Week 3 -- Oct. 19, 2019
This week was pretty great!!
1. My favorite book
Before I left, my dad described a mission as really long days but short weeks, and boy this week was a testament to that!
I woke up monday with a fever, and turns out everyone at the MTC is sick, so that's super fun, hopefully soon i'll have a voice again!!
So I've been here three weeks now, which is crazy!!! We had our first full Spanish TRC's this week, which is where we have to teach, or uhhh get to teach..., someone four different lessons all in Spanish, for 25 minutes straight!! We did our first two on Wednesday and Thursday, and Wednesday didn't go too well, but I really felt like Thursday was awesome!! The problem was however... we were teaching the lesson, it was going amazing, we'd invited her to read 1st Nephi, and at the end i'm bearing my testimony, and was killing it! The Spirit was so strong!!!! At the end of my testimony what i was trying to say was, "And i know God loves me and you very much!" But instead I said, "yo se que te amo mucho!" or, "I love you very much!" and yeah that was awkward and ruined the Spirit because we all burst out laughing, go Elder Boden...
I'll just list a couple crazy things that happened this week. There's this Elder in another district going to Peru, who was supposed to leave the MTC a few weeks ago, but right before, he got pink eye and had to stay here for over a week until it was cleared, and then again, right before he was supposed to head out, an elder in my district was playing basketball with him and accidentally knocked his tooth out, soooo he's like been here for two weeks longer than anticipated! Another story, for those of you who knows about "the bachelor of provo, or Provo's Most Eligible," Apparently the sister who won it last year shares a room with two of the Hermanas in our district, and we have heard ALLLL about that! Also, i'm brushing my teeth the other night and as i walk out of the bathroom this elder zooms past me, crabwalking... I was so confused what was happening at first!!! Apparently he's bet any elder 50 bucks if they can beat him in a crabwalking race. I don't know if i'm super impressed by him, or really weirded out, because he can literally crabwalk faster than i can speedwalk. We timed him and it took 35.6 seconds to go around our building.
Every Sunday and Tuesday we have a devotional after dinner at the MTC. On Sunday Sheri Dew came and spoke to us and it was amazing!! She is incredible. On Tuesday we went a little early so we could get good seats, and for every other devotional, the doors were open for like an hour before, however we get there and we had to stand in line until about 15 minutes before, and once we got in there, we saw people looking under chairs with mirrors, and a full security personel guarding the doors. In walks Quentin L. Cook!!! His talk was so so cool and beyond inspiring!!! He had someone from the church history department there as well, and he literally brought a couple pages from the very first original translated Book of Mormon, as well as the Printer's Manuscript! It was a very spiritual experience and something i truly will never forget. My love for the Book of Mormon has grown an insane amount these past couple weeks.
I've found so many missionaries here who are all going to Spain and leaving the same day as me! Our plane is going to be packed!! I think our count is at 17!!!
Apparently I don't know the rules of soccer, because i guess MTC soccer is super violent. I played a few times this week and walked away with bruises all over
Still awesome of course!
I love it here so much!! I miss all of you so much and I love getting your emails throughout the week!!!! love you guys!!
