Week 5 -- November 2, 2019
Hola Amigos!!
4. Our Halloween costumes! (They dressed up as each other. Elder VanWagenen's mouth wide open for pictures cracks me up)
Another great week here at the MTC!!
I can't believe today marks one month that I have been here!! That is crazy! Time has flown by here!! Something pretty cool that happened was last Sunday, our Branch President pulled Elder Van Wagenen and I aside and asked us if we would be the Zone Leaders! It was a big surprise, but it has been a lot of fun! We have 5 districts of about 10 people each in our zone. We got a new district this week, and it was a lot of fun meeting all of the new missionaries and giving them an orientation!! We are actually just about to sit down and put together the schedule for Sacrament and Priesthood meeting tomorrow! I'd say the biggest plus to being a Zone Leader however, is the fact that we are so cool we get to carry around a flip phone, that can't call, and can only receive calls from our branch president. Pretty cool i know.
This week was Halloween! Most of us totally forgot until we got to the cafeteria and saw about five Hermanas dressed up in full suit and ties... That was uhhh interesting... It was fun though! In our dorms at night, there were elders with spiderman masks on going door to door saying, "Trick or Treat" They actually walked away with a pretty good stash! One of my teachers Hermano Frias is from Panama, and on Halloween he brought us a Panamanian dessert. It was basically a mix of rice pudding and Horchata, it was amazing but crazy sweet. The really cool thing was that he wrote on the lid of each one, a powerful trait or something that is really unique and great about each missionary in our class. My lid said, "Testificador" And he explained that i have such a powerful testimony in both Spanish and English, and everyone around me can always feel the spirit from my testimony!! That was really cool to hear! Definitely one of the highlights from my week!
Our district has been practicing the song, "Peace in Christ" and we are singing the first verse in english and the second in spanish in sacrament meeting next week. It is one of my favorite songs, and i cannot wait, because it literally sounds so so cool!!
Fun story about that however... After practicing one day this week, an Elder in my district came up to me when i was in my room, and said, "Hey Elder Boden, Do you like singing? Do you sing a lot?" After asking why, he replied, "Are you tone deaf? I know someone who was singing was and i think it was you. Just curious, are you tone deaf?" Well it's a good thing i already knew i had no singing ability whatsoever because it just made me laugh so hard. He literally was asking that as a serious question and had no idea that that could have been offensive to someone who really thought they were good

I don't have much time to write, but I just want you all to know that i love my mission with all my heart. I know that there is nothing better for me to be doing with my life!! Also, all of you should watch the new Book of Mormon videos that the church has been making! They're actually pretty awesome! Every Friday night we all excitingly gather around one of our phones to watch the new one! Pretty much the coolest TV Show ever!
I can't believe that i literally leave here in 9 days!!! 9 days and i'll be in ESPANA!!!
