Week 11 -- Dec. 17, 2019
Higher and Holier
Hola everyone!!!!!
Another awesome week here in Spain!!!!! A lot happened this past week!!!
Last Tuesday we had Zone Conference. It was different than most zone conferences. We had 6 zones all in Barcelona!! 120 missionaries!!!! It was so so amazing!! We got to hear from Elder De Feo from the 70 as well as brother and sister Bushman (cant remember their first names, but they're like famous and have written books for the church and stuff) They were all super super amazing! The theme that I got out of Zone Conference was "Higher and Holier" It's interesting because I have found a lot more about becoming "higher and holier" in my scripture study. Basically what it means, is that we need to always remember we can't be perfect yet. Jesus Christ is the only person to walk the Earth who was perfect, BUT we do have the potential to become perfect eventually. So we also need to remember to never stop trying to improve. We can't ever just fall into the groove or the mindset of thinking, "okay I'm a pretty good person now, I'll just stay right here. " because all of us ALWAYS have room to improve! We all need to become Higher and Holier!!
Cool story from the week, we were out contacting one night and as a man walked past, we asked him if he had a second, he just shouted, "No, no religion!!!" And then we were like no wait we just want directions to the nearest restaurant
and then we started talking for a long time and he looked at the Book of Mormon in my hands, and was like, "hey I have one of those, a missionary gave that to me 20 years ago." And then he told us his mom is Catholic and he isn't religious because he doesn't like that prayers are just memorised scripts, and that he wants to know that there is a God. And well what better opportunity to explain that prayer is literally communication with God, who's not just a powerful entity, but our Literal Father in Heaven who loves us so much!!! He looked at us with a big smile on his face and asked for our numbers and said okay we need to be in contact!!!
So what a miracle! It's interesting to see firsthand God softening the hearts of the people as we talk to them!
Ahhhh I just love this mission!!!!
I don't have much more time to write so I'll just close by inviting all of you to read Helaman 5 this week, it's a pretty fantastic chapter!!!! It's kinda long, so I'd you're lazy and feel like missing out on revelation, at least just read verses 9-12!
Have a great week, strive for Higher and Holier! (:
