Week 13 -- Dec. 30, 2019

Almost Gave Someone a Broken Nose for Christmas

This email is for last week, sorry I ran out of time ahahaha..

Great week as always!!! I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas!!! Christmas here definitely didn't feel a whole lot like Christmas! It was a good day, but definitely very different, super grateful for the opportunity we have to call our families!!
It was weird also that my warmest day here was Christmas๐Ÿ˜‚ One of my favorite traditions is every Christmas eve with my sisters, we build a big fort in our playroom and sleep in it! Well after telling Elder Toro that, he said we had to do it, so that, along with watching the family video that my dad made, was the highlight of my Christmas!!!!! It was a lot of fun๐Ÿ˜‚
It was weird waking up and the only presents to open were the kinder surprise eggs we bought the night before, but was still a very good day!
Christmas here is basically the same as us just very mellow and people don't care as much๐Ÿ˜‚

How was Christmas for all of you???

On Saturday we were playing fรบtbol with a bunch of people in the park and I went to score and probably kicked the ball a little too hard because I kicked it and it hit this guy right in the face crazy hard and his whole nose was so bruised after and I literally thought I'd broken it. So yeah go me.. and no I didn't even make the goal ๐Ÿค™

We met another homeless person this week. Her name is Tatiana,  she's like 75 and has lived on and off the streets  pretty much most of her life. We just talked to her for a while and she's super super nice. We ended up giving her a Book of Mormon, because she has an incredible amount of faith and wants to be as close with God as possible, and when we gave it to her, she literally kissed the book and in tears so humbly thanked us. She even ended up telling us that her friend who's been with her for years in Spain out of nowhere died last week and she's now just alone:( Turns out Elder Toro knew this man and had met with him a few times just in the streets here and gave him a Book of Mormon a while back. She told us he died with the book in his arms. Wow..
It was such an eye-opening experience to me. Here is someone who has nothing, her only friend died out of nowhere and she trusts God so much and knows He is so good. What an amazing example of what our amazing prophet said about, it isn't our circumstances that defines our happiness,  it's our focus.
The next night we brought her an extra blanket and pillow from our apartment.

This morning we woke up pretty early and went running on the beach with the Hermanas! Wow it was super fun and the sunrise was incredible! Cotton candy skies everywhere! Geez it was cold though!!! And I've also learned that the Basque people are crazy, they cant be cold. It was probably 38 degrees outside,  I'm dressed in double layers and shivering and they're out swimming and surfing in the ocean, I dont understand!!!

That's about all I have for this week, I love you all! I love getting your emails every week!!! Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!!!(:
