Week 23 -- March 16, 2020

Una Semana Muy LOCA

Hello hello!!!!

This was the weirdest and craziest week of my mission! I'll give a good description of each day from this week!

Monday: Nothing crazy in regards to The Corona Virus; but we committed one of our amigos, Ricardo, who smokes 4 packs a day, to start to quit by only smoking one pack a day!! We took all of his cigarettes and threw them away!!

Tuesday: Another pretty mellow day. We toured a sweet castle, and the new Zone Leader finally arrived, so we headed back to Benidorm.

Wednesday: We went to the store and each spent 70 Euros on food. We were all told we need to have a 2 week supply of shelf food in our apartments. We bought a ton of food and water.

Thursday: Now this was a crazy day... We had District Council in the morning, we were just about to go get lunch, excited for a busy day, meeting with 3 new people, when we got a call From President Galli. He said, "Hello, Elder Peters, because of The Corona Virus Threat, we have to sent all "At-risk" missionaries home, and you are one of them. (He has Crones and other problems that make his system weak.) Elder Boden, you will be reassigned, but for now you'll stay with the Zone Leaders in Alicante until we know where to put you. Pack up everything, clean out your apartment, throw away all perishable food, and leave, Elder Peters you have a train to Barcelona in 5 hours." The rest of the day was insane, with tons of packing and emotions, we finally made it to the train station, said goodbye, and I met up with the Zone Leaders. We decided to go shopping again, because we didn't have room for much of the food from Benidorm, and the store was almost completely empty, it was crazy. They told me they would assume I will be here the rest of the transfer.

Friday: Another very crazy day. We wake up and get ready and the Assistants call us and say I should probably go to Elche, because it's only 30 minutes away in train, and one of the Elders there got sent home. So we get to the train station, just about to leave, when President calls me again. He tells me that I am being transferred to Cornellá, which is in Barcelona! So I get on a different train for 5 hours, and spent the whole time writing a detailed description of almost every amigo/less active member/member from Benidorm for the missionaries there whenever there are missionaries again. Finally met up with my companion, Elder Gallegos, from Mexico, and we went to our apartment.

Saturday: We wake up, and there's a message from our President that says that for now, we are still good to teach and go out and be missionaries, but if we don't have appointments, we shouldn't be in the streets contacting. So we went and helped a member move for a few hours. Afterwards, we got another message from President, saying that the King of Spain just announced that, starting Monday, Spain will be in a nation-wide quarantine, and that no one will be allowed to leave their house for reasons other than to buy essential groceries, go to work, or a hospital. So President Galli announced that as of right then, every missionary in our mission is in quarantine.

Sunday: First real day as a Quarantined missionary! We woke up, had a little Sacrament meeting in our living room, studied for a long time, watched COCO, and then made a plan for DEEP-cleaning the entire apartment. We spent 4 hours super cleaning the living room, rearranging everything, getting rid of stuff, it's a different room altogether. Then we spent a little bit, sending messages to members and amigos and informing them we would love to share messages over the phone!

So yeah It's a little crazy here rn... But everything is all good!!! I am definitely okay and we have a whole lot more food than we could possibly need! It's crazy everywhere, all we can do is continue to ask God for help!!

I love you all!!! Stay safe!!! WASH YOUR HANDS!!!!

Also another reminder that my mom uploads all of my weekly emails to elderboden@blogspot.com !!
